About me
My name is Sofia Perez-Dietz.
I am a senior at Newton North High School.
My decision to do Caps goes way back to when my sister did it almost 7 years ago. At the beginning of my senior year I felt very ready to take hold of my education and move beyond the classroom.
My decision to work at an occupational therapy office started one day last summer, when I was working at Camp Frank A. Day, a friend of mine told me about occupational therapy. She gave me a rough explanation that it was about improving daily life and how her sister (a practicing OT) loved it. From then on I was set on doing my Capstone as an occupational therapy intern. As a swim teacher and camp counselor the idea to work with kids was obvious to me.
I contacted a few different places, one being the Integrated Center for Child Development. It was smooth sailing after I received their enthusiastic response that I could be their intern.
I have not had any direct relationship with occupational therapy.
Ultimately, I hope to use this experience to help direct my higher education and to help me discern if becoming a occupational therapist is the right path for me. I love working with kids and have found that my patience and ability to break things down helps them to better understand me. I believe that my experience as a theatre producer for my school will help me maintain a office space, create schedules and create professional relationships.
In my free time I enjoy exercising, playing volleyball, cooking and singing.
